Tarpon Fly Fishing

The Silver King, Megalops Atlanticus, Poon.  No matter what you call them, Tarpon are the premier game fish of Southwest Florida.  We can chase them all year long, but primetime tends to be April-June.  I believe fly fishing for Tarpon to be the pinnacle of our sport and absolutely nothing beats watching a Tarpon slide in behind your fly and inhale it!

We can find Tarpon anywhere from Naples, Marco Island, Goodland and the Everglades.  For smaller, baby tarpon, a 7wt or 8wt fly rod is a ton of fun as the fish can really show off.  When chasing big tarpon the 10wt's and 11wt's come out.  Most days we will utilize floating lines to sight fish, but an intermiate line can be a good tool as well.
